Mozart, Britten and Schumann
Ryan Wigglesworth conducts the 麻豆社 Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Mozart and Schumann. They are joined by tenor Mark Padmore for vocal works by Britten and Lutoslawski.
In the middle of the 20th century composers Benjamin Britten and Witold Lutos艂awski were kindred creative spirits. Each crafted ravishing songs for the tenor voice of Peter Pears. In tonight's concert a great singer of our times, Mark Padmore, steps into his shoes to perform two song-cycles at the heart of a typically imaginative programme from the 麻豆社 Scottish Symphony Orchestra's chief conductor Ryan Wigglesworth. Mozart opens the evening in a blaze of sunlight, and Schumann鈥檚 most personal symphony brings it to a close: strong emotions, spoken with love.
