Shortwave radio, gas station music and shakuhachi weirdness

Verity Sharp presents a selection of adventurous music, including the undecoded radio messages of Shropshire Number Stations and new beats inspired by the wind from Photay.

Verity Sharp presents a mind-expanding selection of adventurous music, including bleeps and pips from undecoded shortwave radio messages captured by Shropshire Number Stations, aka Rob Dunsford and Eric Loveland Heath, and new beats inspired by the wind from Photay’s forthcoming album.

Elsewhere in the show, a dystopian piece from ---__--____, a recent project from Seth Graham, More Eaze, and Recovery Girl, inspired by American gas stations, racetracks and county fairs; plus geometric improvisations from Berlin’s Thuluth, the trio of Magda Mayas, Ute Wassermann and Raed Yassin who find new sounds through playing with objects, instruments and the human voice.

There’s time, too, for a warped hymn to curiosity taken from a live session by Betamax Vs. Bell & Wong, who offer liberatory weirdness on shakuhachi, drums and tape machines.
