Chamber music from Edinburgh and the Proms

Chamber music from this year鈥檚 Edinburgh International Festival and orchestral music by Beethoven, Brahms and Sarah Gibson from the 麻豆社 Proms introduced by Elizabeth Alker.

Elizabeth Alker introduces chamber music recorded exclusively for the programme at this year鈥檚 Edinburgh International Festival and from the 麻豆社 Proms. The young French pianist Alexandre Kantorow has been described as 鈥楲iszt reincarnated鈥 and this summer he makes his Edinburgh International Festival debut. After becoming the first French pianist to win Gold at the Tchaikovsky Competition aged 22, Kantorow has gone on to record eight albums of music by Liszt, Saint Saens, Brahms and Rachmaninov. He brings that love of Romantic repertoire to his recital at the Queen鈥檚 Hall.

Also in today鈥檚 programme, the 麻豆社 Philharmonic Orchestra at this year鈥檚 Proms, in a programme that includes Sarah Gibson鈥檚 鈥榳arp & weft鈥, inspired by the work of Canadian artist Miriam Schapiro.
