Cerys pays tribute to British blues singer, guitarist and harmonica player John Mayall, who died on 22 July. Plus South Wales's Laura Evans pops by to share her new EP What I'm Made Of.
John Mayall was drawn towards the sound of the blues musicians from the Mississippi Delta from a young age, he learnt the piano and Ukulele before getting an electric guitar. In 1962 John joined the Blues Syndicate, inspired by the sounds of Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated and it was Alexis who persuaded John to move to London and take up music as a full time career. John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers were part of the 1960 British blues revival and his line-up featured John McVie on bass, who would later help form Fleetwood Mac and John also recruited Eric Clapton after he quit the Yardbirds!
Laura Evans was born in the valleys of South Wales and inspired by artists like Bonnie Raitt and Fleetwood Mac. Her new EP is a taste of her second album due next year and is a blend of blues, rock and soul.
