The Way Our Children Eat
The way our children eat will go a long way to determining their future. How concerned should we about their diets and the lure of fast food. What can be done to reverse the trend?
Despite years of healthy eating messaging, Wales tops the table for childhood obesity in the UK. What has gone wrong with children鈥檚 relationship with food and why has the response of government at all levels been so ineffective? What would meaningful measures to address this look like. Sarah Dickins and Simon Wright visit a community primary school where the children are learning to cook and grow. They talk to parents, teachers and children about the challenges they face in accessing and affording healthy food. A ground-breaking project which is seeing cooking skills and food literacy brought into the classroom by cooks from independent hospitality is producing transformational results, but the quality of school lunches presents an ongoing challenge.
