As a left-sided winger for Nottingham Forest under Brian Clough, John Robertson scaled the heights of European Football, not once, but twice. He set up the winning goal for Trevor Francis when Forest defeated Malmo in the 1979 European Cup final in Munich and scored one of the most memorable European Cup final goals in the 1-0 defeat of Hamburg a year later in Madrid.

As a Scotland international, Robertson holds the record of five penalties taken and scored, including the only goal of the game from the spot when Scotland beat England at Wembley in 1981. He featured at two World Cup finals and was immortalised in the 1982 Scotland World Cup Squad song, We Have a Dream. When his playing career ended, Robbo joined up with his old Forest teammate Martin O鈥橬eill, working as a coach and assistant manager alongside him at Wycombe Wanderers, Norwich, Leicester and Celtic. It was in Glasgow where the duo enjoyed their biggest success: winning seven domestic honours, including a treble in 2000-2001. He is one of only seven Scottish footballers to have won the highest honour in European club football more than once, and remains the last Scot to score the winning goal in a European Cup final.
