'And we say 'aye' for 'yes' and 'yes' for hello!'
Patrick in Derry is wondering why we says 'yes' when we mean 'hello'.
鈥淚 have another local saying,鈥 says Patrick in Derry. 鈥楬e's got a gob on him like Shipquay Gate鈥, meaning he's got a big mouth. And why do we say 鈥榓ye鈥 in Derry, meaning 鈥榶es鈥? I am wondering if it's to do with the sailors who used to be based in Derry during the war. And now we all say 鈥榓ye鈥 for 鈥榶es鈥, and we say 鈥榶es鈥 for 鈥榟ello鈥.鈥
鈥淪ometimes,鈥 Sean says, 鈥淚 wonder what has happened to this show!鈥
鈥淲ell,鈥 says Patrick, 鈥測ou started it!鈥
With music from The Dave Clark Five, Fats Domino, Sammy Davis Jr, and more.
