麻豆社 Philharmonic: Bruckner's Seventh Symphony
Conductor Anja Bihlmaier and the 麻豆社 Philharmonic in Bruckner's Seventh Symphony. They are joined by pianist Steven Osborne for Beethoven's 'Emperor' Concerto.
As part of the 麻豆社 Philharmonic's Bruckner bicentenary season they are joined by conductor Anja Bihlmaier for a performance of Bruckner's mighty Seventh Symphony. Bruckner's trademark colours and relentless pulse are combined with tantalizing hints of Wagner's music, popular dance music from the tavern and hymns from the church.
Steven Osborne joins the orchestra to open the concert with Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto, the 'Emperor'. Although written in Vienna under the bombardment of Napoleon's troops the optimism and grace of the Rondo Finale and the rich warmth of the slow movement make it a favourite amongst concertos.
