Neurodivergency & Invisible Women

Lynette meets Cara and Gary who have set up SPARK, a group for neuro divergent people and how it will connect and photographer Catriona Corrigan on women stepping into photographs.

Cara and Gary didn't know each other before being diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and now are about to begin a group for other ADHD and neuro diverse people in Northern Ireland called SPARK. Both parents, they were filling out Autism assessment forms for their children when they thought that the questions sounded a bit too close to home. Hear their stories of diagnosis in later life (Cara is 39, Gary was 40) and how they live, work, parent and play on the spectrum.
And Lynette was so taken by a talk she heard given by photographer Cat Corrigan at an International Womens Day event that she had to get us all to hear it. Cat posed the question : Why are women so reluctant to be photographed as they age? and why are we making ourselves invisible in our own family photographic history? It happened to Cat when she didn't photograph her late mother in older age, a deep regret she says. She also says that, in spite of our aging bodies and how we feel we look, we need to document ourselves. All this plus cracking tunes from The Stone Roses (as heard on Lynette's trainer's playlist last night!) and a new song from Naomi Campbell (not the supermodel but the Strabane singer songwriter).
