Charity at Christmas - do we give to salve our conscience?
Giving at Christmas - are our charitable intentions genuine, or are we paying lip service to doing good?
It's the season of goodwill. The season of giving. The season of thinking of others ahead of ourselves. It's certainly a time of year when the economic differences between us are most acutely observed
How far does your giving extend? Is it just to close family and friends or do you also make sure that you give what you can to people you don't know. Families in need? Some of the poorest people in our society?
And if you do give to them, what do you give- money? food? gifts? And why do you do it? And once the contribution has been made, do you give them a second thought?
Should we be taxed to help charities working on their behalf throughout the year?
Presenter Audrey Carville in conversation with journalist and commentator Liz Kennedy, Agnes Lunny, Chief Executive of the Positive Futures charity, writer Tony Macauley and former trade union leader Bumper Graham.
