Landward celebrates the role that dogs play in Scotland鈥檚 countryside. Dougie meets the Scottish collie breed at risk, while Cammy finds out about sheepdogs being trained to protect livestock.
In this episode, Dougie and his Gordon Setter, Jessie, are letting the dogs out in a special episode celebrating man鈥檚 best friend.
Looking at the different roles dogs play in the Scottish countryside, Cammy visits the Rothiemurchas Estate, near Aviemore, to meet the Italian Maremmas being trained to protect livestock from large predators. Rosie is near Dunbeath in Caithness to join a legend of the gundog training world and discover how pointers work an area or moorland to find game birds.
Also in the north, Dougie is near Lairg in Sutherland to discover why a Scottish collie breed has ended up on the Kennel Club鈥檚 list of vulnerable breeds. And Arlene is heading up Ben A鈥檃n in the Trossachs with a pair of dogs making a name for themselves on social media with their hill-walking adventures.
