The 50th edition of the world's largest offshore race commences from the Royal Yacht Squadron on the Isle of Wight. The biennial 690 nautical mile race from Cowes to Cherbourg-en-Cotentin in France, via the celebrated Fastnet Rock off the southern coast of Ireland is a rite of passage for all sailors and one of the greatest spectacles in world sport. A record fleet of well over 400 yachts are expected take on the challenge.
