Squeeze co-founder Chris Difford is Johnnie's My 70s guest.

This year, Squeeze co-founder and songwriter Chris Difford has every reason to celebrate. He's marking 50 years in the business with a series of live shows.

Legend has it, the boy from Greenwich nicked 50 pence from his Mum's purse to put a card in a sweet shop window, advertising for a guitarist for his band (which didn't actually exist). That moment in time worked well for young Chris, and since then he's enjoyed a career to be envied, notching up some of the best of the decade's pop songs with Squeeze, onto an acclaimed solo career and countless accolades since, including two Ivor Novello songwriting awards. In 2017, he published his autobiography and now has his own podcast.

Chris is Johnnie's My 70s guest on this episode and will be sharing some of his own memories of the 1970s. He's also out on tour this year, taking in the Edinburgh Fringe this summer as well as several UK dates and a north American tour with Squeeze.

Elsewhere on the show, another listener will nominate a track for Johnnie's Jukebox, a Better Than (the) Original track, plus there will be stories from This Week in Music, with the help of the 麻豆社 Archives.
