Edinburgh New Town Concert Series (3/4)

The Van Baerle Trio perform Brahms's Piano Trio No 2 in C, and Quatuor 脡b猫ne play Dubugnon's Secular Suite for String Quartet, at the Queen's Hall in Edinburgh.

The Amsterdam-based Van Baerle Trio opens this third programme in the series. The chamber group was established nearly twenty years ago when its members were students at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. We hear a work that Brahms was pleased with, his Piano Trio in C about which he wrote to his publisher, 鈥測ou have not yet had such a beautiful trio from me鈥. To follow, the Quatuor 脡b猫ne performs music by Swiss composer Richard Dubugnon, his revealing string quartet arrangements of music by J.S. Bach.

Recorded at the Queens Hall with presentation by Stephen Broad.
