Glenn Miller's lively take on Italian opera is set against the real thing, and while we're in Italy, we hear some red-hot ardour from Monteverdi, and some gentle shepherding from Sardinia's Tenores di Bitti. Travelling via Beethoven and Tchaikovsky, we come to a serene finale with the first of Mahler's Ruckert-Lieder.
