A New Pibroch and a Modern Classic
Gary West explores recent pipe compositions including a brand new pibroch born in Canada.
As a form of music which is at least 500 years old, it is a rare thing to get the chance to hear a brand new pibroch which was born only a matter of weeks ago. Bruce Gandy of Halifax, Nova Scotia, introduces his new pibroch composition and gives it its world premiere broadcast on Pipeline. There鈥檚 also a hattrick of performances of another modern classic tune, 鈥楽melling Fresh鈥� composed by James Duncan MacKenzie, as well as sets from elite level players, Roddy MacLeod, Willie McCallum and Callum Beaumont. Staying with the 鈥榖rand new鈥�, we sample our first taste of a forthcoming track from bellows pipes star, Brighde Chaimbeul, and a classic performance from the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band.
