All week we're touring the UK, hosting the Tea Time show live from a different independent venue. Tuesday sees Steve chatting with Bristol-based producer, vocalist and DJ Grove, who joins Steve before their set at Hare and Hounds in Birmingham that evening. Steve will also play a recorded-live track from Monday鈥檚 麻豆社 Music Introducing artist set from Honeyglaze. Adam Regan from the Hare and Hounds then joins to share the story of the venue, alongside 麻豆社 Music Introducing radio presenter Theo Johnson who will discuss Birmingham鈥檚 live music scene. There鈥檒l be another audio tour around Birmingham from YouTuber, comedian and 麻豆社 Asian Network presenter Smashbengali. Birmingham-born and raised Smashbengali takes Steve on a tour of the city, paying homage to the important areas that brought the likes of Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Apache Indian to the masses. The show will finish with recorded-live highlights from Sprints鈥 performance at Ramsgate Music Hall from the previous evening.
Steve Lamacq says: 鈥淚ndependent Venue Week has always played a vital role in helping grassroots venues at a financially perilous time of year. But it鈥檚 even more essential now, as venues try and bounce back from the COVID lockdowns and cope with the pressures of the current cost of living situation. But it鈥檚 also a great time to get out and see some new and emerging artists before they hit the summer festival stages. There鈥檚 a terrific variety of music on offer.
鈥淲e鈥檝e also lined up some of our own favourite new and established acts for a week of gigs in small independent venues around the country and will be touring the UK, presenting the 麻豆社 Radio 6 Music radio show from a different location every day.鈥
