Escape: Places to Think & Ana Moura in Session

Cerys welcomes Fado singer Ana Moura to perform live. As 6 Music's Escape season continues, Cerys curates 3 hours on the theme of places to think and music to blow away the cobwebs.

Cerys welcomes Portuguese Fado singer Ana Moura to perform live at Â鶹Éç Maida Vale, Ana performs three tracks from her latest album Casa Guilhermina. The album blurs traditional Fado with a mix of African genres including Semba, Morna and Kizomba as well as Brazilian Samba and Chora.

In 2012 Ana released her fifth album Desfado, which was produced by Joni Mitchell's collaborator Larry Klein and became the best-selling record of the 2010s by a local act. She has performed with The Rolling Stones and was a friend of Prince, who penned her the song Dream of Fire. Ana tells Cerys about recording at Prince's Paisley Park studio, the smell of the candles and playing ping-pong.

As 6 Music's Escape season continues, Cerys curates a selection of records along the theme of places to think and music to blow away the cobwebs. Expect a mix of blues, folk, jazz, rock and beats with tracks from Dorothy Ashby, Nina Simone and J.J. Cale as well as brand-new music from Dele Sosimi, Fenne Lilly and Kutiman mixed with archive and philosophy insights from Young Plato documentary film maker Neasa Ni Chianain, Professor Nikk Effingham and Edinburgh University's Michael Gill.
