In 2016 the girls who went on to form Star Feminine Band responded to a local radio call out to take part in a series of music training sessions. Previous experience was not neccesary. Indeed, none of the girls had come close to a guitar, microphone or drumkit before. They are now aged between 10 and 17 years old, from Natitingou, a remote town in the north of Benin.
At the end of 2018, their encounter with a young French sound engineer accelerated the course of things, and a year later they recorded their self titled debut album.
Covid meant that the planned international tour never happened, but they eventually made it to play in Paris where they recorded their new album.

Tom also chats to Holland based Israeli-Curacaoan duo BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL ahead of their mix in The Ravers Hour.
BLACK GIRL / WHITE GIRL, aka Karin & Ty, have been a duo for around 10 years. Their crafted mix of techno meets acid, breaks, and rave morphs has seen their demand rise. They've recently released a string of highly sought-after cuts on SYMBOLISM, Super Rhythm Trax, and Balkan Vinyl.
Early last year, they launched their independent, no-fuss white label series 鈥楧ancefloor Destroyers鈥� - which remixed old school classics into larger-than-life club tracks.
They released the 鈥楳ultiverse EP鈥� last November, joining techno mainstays Spencer Parker, Leo Pol and label boss Mella Dee on Warehouse Music.
