In the shadows of our fathers - do we need to redefine what it is to be a man?
Conforming to a pattern? Do men feel a pressure to fit a stereotype - to be 'manly', to be 'strong', to be a 'winner'? And if so, what are the impacts of that on relationships?
When you hear or use that word, what image is conjured up in your mind? What does 'being a man' mean? Is it all about toughness- being physically the strongest?
Is it about conquering everything in your path- and securing success- whether that's on the playing field, career, romance? Are they allowed to be emotionally vulnerable? Are they allowed to show empathy?
If not, what impact do these expectations have on them and the rest of society? Do they go some way in explaining why suicide is the leading cause of death in these islands in men under the age of 50?
Presenter Audrey Carville in conversation with guests: child psychologist Stella O'Malley and school principals Kathleen O'Hare and Chris Donnelly.
