The chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, unveils a fifty-five billion pound package of tax rises and spending cuts to help tackle the "cost-of-living crisis" and rebuild the UK's economy. The income tax personal allowance, national insurance and inheritance tax thresholds are all to be frozen until 2028. State pensions and benefits will rise in line with inflation from April.
