An Ulster-Scots Prime Minister, deep roots at Drenagh and the story of William Orr鈥檚 execution.
An Ulster-Scots Prime Minister whose term in office lasted just months, rooting about at Drenagh for a family鈥檚 history, and the story of United Irishman William Orr.
There鈥檚 Ulster-Scots history in spades this week 鈥 and not just from the refurbishment of the gardens at Drenagh as Helen Mark meets Conolly McCausland to hear about his family鈥檚 history.
鈥淩emember Orr!鈥 A familiar saying in some quarters, but who was he? Jonnie Crawford learns more about the story of William Orr and the events that led to his public hanging in Carrickfergus in 1797.
Ian Crozier, CEO of the Ulster-Scots Agency tells the team about a national leader whose story has remarkable parallels to recent events - a Conservative Prime Minister who served for only a few months, who led the nation after a global crisis, a pandemic and with troubled politics in Ulster! In this case it was an Ulster-Scot - Andrew Bonar Law.
Completing the team this week are Rab Lennox and Willie Hill.
As always, they all love to hear from listeners with a yarn, song or poem to share or an Ulster-Scots event to promote - just drop a line to say hello and comment on the programme. Why not get in touch at kintra@bbc.co.uk?
