Music for theatre and micro-naps

Verity Sharp sets the stage for a two-hour exploration of the adventurous and experimental with theatrically inspired music from Ariel Zetina and a track from drummer Chloe Kim.

Verity Sharp sets the stage for a two-hour exploration of the adventurous and experimental. We’ll hear music from the debut album Cyclorama by Chicago-based DJ and producer Ariel Zetina, inspired by her background as a theatre writer and producer. Cyclorama is a theatrical device where a large curtain is placed in an arc around the back wall of a stage to give the illusion of depth and space. Elsewhere in the show, an expressive study of solo drumkit from percussionist Chloe Kim, showcasing what she describes as her “favourite sides†of her drumming as opposed to her “bestâ€. Plus, composer and bassist SeaJun Kwon examines the liminal spaces between waking and sleeping alongside his ironically titled Walking Cliché Sextet on their new album Micro-Nap, a collection of non-linear and broken moments.
