The Poetry of Science
Poet Clare E Potter asks whether can science be inspired by poetry.
Poet Clare E. Potter argues that poetry can not only unite the empirical and the emotional but also inprove science with poetry as it hones critical skills in, analysis, observation, and clear communication and thus makes for a better scientist. But can science be inspired by poetry? Well medical science certainly thinks so. It is now common practice for medical students to write poems to their cadavers in order to 'humanise' them, to pay honour to their life force and to give thanks for giving their body to science. Clare chats to leading Welsh scientists about their work and quest for truth and the parallel insight that poets seek.
