Highlights from the Schwetzingen Festival 2022 (3/4)
The Hagen Quartet and friends perform Mozart's String Quartet No 17 in B flat, 'Hunt', Bartok's Contrasts and CPE Bach's Fantasia in F sharp minor.
Sarah Walker presents a programme of highlights from this year's Schwetzingen Festival. Taking place in the rococo surroundings of the vast palace at Schwetzingen, the festival dates back to 1952, and takes place in the Spring of each year.
Today's programme features the Hagen Quartet with one of Mozart's best-known quartets, along with Bartok's Contrasts with its echoes of Hungarian folksong, and an extraordinary Fantasia by C.P.E. Bach, notable for its free, improvisatory style, which Alexander Melnikov plays on the fortepiano.
