The Japanese London-based artist curates an hour of spellbinding experimental music focusing on the power of breathing and the human voice. Gripping spoken word, soothing pipe organ and operatic singing in invented languages from the likes of Moor Mother, FUJI||||||||||TA, Marina Herlop and Meredith Monk among other avant-garde heavy hitters.
Hatis Noit¡¯s accomplished range is astonishingly self-taught, inspired by ancient Japanese court music, Bulgarian and Gregorian chanting as well as avant-garde and pop vocalists. She's performed solo shows and appeared at various festivals across Europe, including Milan Fashion Week, London's Southbank Centre and was also personally invited by auteur director David Lynch to perform at his Manchester International Festival takeover in 2019. Hatis Noit has collaborated with Kevin Richard Martin aka The Bug, the NYX Electronic Drone Choir and appeared on recordings by fellow countryman Masayoshi Fujita as well as Ukrainian pianist and Continuous Music pioneer Lubomyr Melnyk. Her new album Aura is out now on the Erased Tapes label.
