Bravissimo – 2021: The Year Italy Won Everything

Giovanni Pernice, himself a winner of the Strictly Glitter Ball, celebrates 2021, the year Italy won everything. Giovanni watched the Euro penalty shootout with Anton Du Beke.

If you were "Numero Uno" last year then the chances are you are from Italy. From Eurovision to the Euros they took the crown. Giovanni Pernice, himself a fellow winner of the Strictly Glitter Ball, celebrates 2021: The Year Italy Won Everything.

It was an astonishing 12 months and throughout the hour Giovanni will be reliving some of those incredible achievements, by the entertainers, sports people, musicians and even bakers from the land that gave us the finest art and architecture, fashion and film.

At the delayed 2020 Summer Olympics the Italian team picked up a record-breaking 40 medals and a remarkable 69 at the Paralympics. Lamont Marcell Jacobs became the first to succeed Usain Bolt as the World's Fastest Man picking up Gold in the 100 metres, Mateo Berrettini became the first Italian to reach the Wimbledon Men's Tennis Finals. Even the British bastion Bake Off was won by Giuseppe Dell'Anno. The list is endless. AND where and with who did Giovanni watch the European Championship Final? In an Italian Restaurant wearing an Italian Shirt, with... Anton Du Beke!

Through anecdotes and archives Giovanni will say "Bravissimo" to these incredible history makers, including himself!.
