There will also be action from the men鈥檚 1000m speedskating, where Cornelius Kersten has an outside chance of winning Great Britain鈥檚 first ever Olympic medal in the sport. Speedskating 鈥� which takes place on a far larger oval than the similar discipline of short track 鈥� is dominated by the Netherlands. Kersten, raised in Holland but with a British mother, finished fourth at January鈥檚 European Championships. Dutchman Thomas Krol won that race and may again be the skater to beat.
