Iain begins a new 131-mile ramble as he heads north to tackle the Speyside Way.
The beginning of the Speyside Way is not far from the home of Iain's 99-year-old aunt Mary. Before setting off, Iain stops by at Mary's for a quick cup of tea and a crash-course in his family history. He then heads to Glen Roy to meet with actor and regular hill-walking friend Colin McCredie. The pair marvel at the Parallel Roads carved into the hillside back when the Glen was an ice-dammed loch, before setting off in search of the source of Loch Spey.
After parting ways with Colin the following morning, Iain heads into the wilderness, where he spots herds of deer and birds of prey, before going down General Wade鈥檚 Military road into Laggan.
Iain then meets up with his friend Barrett Robertson, and the pair head off toward Newtonmore, passing the new lambs and an extremely vocal turkey. They lunch at an unexpected bothy, before passing through the beautiful Glen Banchor.
Back to solitary rambling, Iain visits what will soon be a new starting point for the Speyside Way in Newtonmore, where he also spots a funny sign on one of the honesty boxes that he is so fond of. The way then passes through Insh, where Iain spies some nesting ospreys, before coming to an end in Dalraddy alongside the River Spey.
