UUP leader Doug Beattie in Nolan studio fighting for his political career.
Less than a year after being appointed, the leader of Northern Ireland’s Ulster Unionist Party Doug Beattie is fighting for his political career after he was accused of misogyny and racism over a number of historical tweets. The MLA and former army officer who was awarded a Military Cross for his service in Afghanistan speaks openly of his ‘shame’ at the ‘horrific’ posts but denies he’s a racist or misogynist and says he’ll let the party decide on his future.
