We need to talk about the 'P-word'.
With Yorkshire CCC in the news for all the wrong reasons, we delve into the history of 'the P-word'. Is Asian usage part of the problem? And is 'pretty privilege' a blessing or a curse?
With the crisis at Yorkshire Cricket Club over its handling of the racist bullying of Azeem Rafiq, the "P-word" has come into sharp focus.
The club had released a summary of its own investigation but the further details of the report were leaked to the website ESPNcricinfo - it included the revelation that a player had used the P word in reference to Rafiq but the report felt it was friendly banter.
It's got people talking about how offensive the P word is - most people say it's historically been used by racists about Asian people. Others, many younger Asians say it's not offensive to use it if it's coming from fellow Asians, they've reclaimed it and its bantzer.
