Dial A SeanchaÃ, Is Iomaà Rud a Tharla, Manchán Magan
Is i 1988 a chur Comhairle Chontae an Chláir scéim Dial A Seanchaà ar bun, agus tá siad ag pilleadh ar an smaoineamh sin i mbliana le bailiúchán úr de sheisear scéalaithe agus amhránaithe, ar féidir leat éisteacht leo ó áit ar bith ar domhan. Cluineann muid anocht ó bheirt de na scéalaithe sin: Aindrias de Staic agus Ceara Conway. Tá compántas Aisling Ghéar ar an bhóthar arÃs, lena dhráma mar gheall ar Ghaeltacht Bhóthar Seoighe, Is Iomaà Rud a Tharla, á thabhairt go hArd Mhacha. Agus fear eile atá sásta a bheith ar chamchuairt arÃs ná Manchán Magan, a bheidh i mbun seó s’aige, Arán agus Im, ina mbácálann sé arán taos géar, agus léargas ar iontais na Gaeilge á thabhairt aige. Tá sé anseo le labhairt air sin agus ar an leabhar úr do pháistà a bheidh á fhoilsiú aige gan mhoill: Tree Dogs, Banshee Fingers and Other Irish Words for Nature.
In 1988, Clare County Council founded the groundbreaking scheme Dial A Seanchaà and this October they will return to that concept with a brand new collection of six storytellers and singers, whom you can listen to on a phone line from anywhere in the world. We hear tonight from two of them: Aindrias de Staic and Ceara Conway. Belfast’s Aisling Ghéar theatre company is on the road again with the play, Is Iomaà Rud a Tharla, written about the Bóthar Seoighe Gaeltacht. And another man who is happy to be on tour again is Manchán Magan who’ll be performing his show, Arán agus Im, in which he bakes sourdough bread while telling us about the wonders of the Irish language. He’s with us to chat about that and his soon-to-be-published new book: Tree Dogs, Banshee Fingers and Other Irish Words for Nature.
