Life in a Northern Town got to number 15 in March 1985.
Nick talks about the inspiration of that song, his thoughts on the times it鈥檚 been sampled and his work as a film and TV soundtrack composer.
Nick Laird-Clowes is a musician and composer.
Best known as the lead singer and one of the principal songwriters for the band The Dream Academy.
In recent years he鈥檚 been composing music for film and documentaries.
His latest film soundtrack is for Last Man Standing, directed by Nick Broomfield.
