The three remaining chefs are halfway through their heat, and the pressure is mounting. Each one wants to represent the North West of England at a banquet celebrating British invention and innovation. One chef pins their hopes on a dish celebrating a church minister who was a pioneer of vegetarianism, while another chef is inspired by a Victorian female adventurer, and our third chef presents a dish with a nod to the first public wash house. But whose mouthwatering plate will please tough veteran judge Tom Aikens the most?
