Corey Mwamba reflects on the exploratory bass playing of the late Gary Peacock. The anchor to many great ensembles including 30 years with Keith Jarrett鈥檚 standards trio, he was an incredibly versatile player, comfortable with every style of jazz. Corey selects a track from his 1981 album with saxophonist Jan Gabarek, drummer Jack DeJohnette and trumpeter Tomasz Stanko: Voice from the Past - Paradigm.
Plus, a selection from a suite of improvised viola duets by Mat Maneri and Tanya Kalmanovitch and a 1976 session from The Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra, a black music ensemble founded in Los Angeles by Horace Tapscott in 1961 which is still going strong today.
