Terence Blanchard in concert

Trumpeter Terence Blanchard live in concert and saxophonist Nubya Garcia on the music that inspires her.

Kevin Le Genre presents live music from trumpeter Terence Blanchard and an all-star band, including Jean Toussaint on tenor saxophone and Jeff 'Tain' Watts on drums, recorded at last year’s Montreux Jazz Festival. Together they tackle new material and classic tunes by Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, where both Blanchard and Jean Toussaint started out.

Also in the programme, saxophonist Nubya Garcia, one of the most talked-about players on the current London jazz scene, shares some of the music that inspires and influences her, including a track by Jamaican keyboardist, songwriter and musical director Jackie Mittoo.

Produced by Dominic Tyerman for Somethin’ Else.
