Family of Enda Dolan - knocked down and killed by a drunk driver in 2014 - call for tougher sentences for those killed by dangerous driving.
A heartbroken County Tyrone family is campaigning for the maximum sentence for death by dangerous driving to be imposed here following the death of their son in 2014. Enda Dolan was just 18 years old when he was knocked down and killed by a drunk driver on the Malone Road close to his Queen's University accommodation. The driver who killed him got a nine-year sentence - but only four and a half of that will be served in prison. His father Peter and mother Niamh are now urging the Department of Justice to finish a review of sentencing started before the Assembly collapsed. Our reporter, Nicola Weir, went to visit the family in Omagh and began by asking Peter about his memories of Enda.
Also on the programme, a ‘referendum without a plan is stupid’ - that's the lesson of Brexit according to former Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams. Last year Sinn Fein president Mary Lou McDonald was accused of a U-turn after initially saying a border poll should be parked until after Brexit. So are Gerry Adams comments an indication of a softening of the party's border poll position? It come on the heels of the party taking a considerable hit in recent elections in the Republic, losing half its councillors and two out of its 3 MEPs. Stephen spoke to SDLP leader Colum Eastwood, commentator Alex Kane and Irish News journalist Allison Morris.
