Patients facing waits for bedpans, basic observations not being carried out and patients dying alone - shocking assessment of our health service by the director of the RCN.

Patients facing waits for bedpans, basic observations not being carried out and dying patients not getting proper care. That's the shocking state of our health service according to the director of the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). Pat Cullen blames serious staffing shortages, ignored warnings and a large disparity in pay between here, and the rest of the UK and Ireland are behind the major issues. She says nursing is now in crisis after successive health ministers and civil servants ignored the college's warnings of a 'perfect storm'. You might have read this story in the Belfast Telegraph on Saturday. Stephen spoke to Pat this morning.

Also on the programme, Marks and Spencer has launched an LGBT sandwich to mark this year's Pride parade. The lettuce, guacamole, bacon and tomato special edition sandwich, which is boxed in rainbow packaging costing 拢3. The company says it will donate more than 拢10,000 to charity as part of its campaign. Do we need an LGBT sandwich or is this just a marketing ploy? Stephen got the views of commentators Fionola Meredith and Ant Millar.
