Families of Dunmurry Manor Care Home demanding to be given a place on an oversight group of the independent review into how elderly people were historically neglected at the home.
The Nolan Show this morning reveals that families of Dunmurry Manor Care Home are demanding to be given a place on an oversight group of the Independent Review into how elderly people were historically neglected at Dunmurry Manor Care Home. The Department of Health set up what they described as an Independent Review after the Older Person's Commissioner, Eddie Lynch, wrote a damning report into how some of our most vulnerable citizens were historically treated in Dunmurry Manor. The Department also set up an "oversight group " and they - and others - were given the power - to help "focus the review on the key issues". No family members are on the oversight group, no politicians, no lay people. Stephen spoke to Julieann McNally, her grandmother was neglected in Dunmurry Manor, Sinn Fein MLA Colm Gildernew and SDLP Cllr Brian Heading.
The DUP's Westminster leader Nigel Dodds has said he "would stay in the European Union and remain rather than risk Northern Ireland's position. That's how strongly I feel about the union." So some are now asking why the party backed Brexit so strongly in the first place. Stephen got the views of DUP MLA Jim Wells and commentator Newton Emerson.
A few weeks ago - we were talking about congestion. Belfast comes second in the UK for the most time spent in traffic. It brought up the topic of air pollution, some of which is of course linked to vehicle emissions. Where are the problem areas - and what is it doing to YOUR health? Stephen spoke to Green Party Councillor Rachel Woods and Dr Mark Miller from the British Heart Foundation, one of the UK's leading research experts into air pollution.
All that and more on the biggest show in the country.
