Cal Tjader and Ike Quebec
Cal Tjader owed a lot to the mambo craze of the 1950s. More laid back was his contemporary, tenor star Ike Quebec.
A new release of dates from the 1950s recorded by vibes player Cal Tjader including his oustanding performance at Carmel in California in 1959. His contemporary, tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec, had a career interrupted by his drug addiction, but he returned to the studio in his later years and was a valuable member of the Blue Note team making many significant recordings.
