Call You and Yours - How are you making the most of later life?

Call You and Yours - How are you making the most of later life? We explore attitudes to ageing and look at research which shows our brains get a creative refresh at the age of 60.

How are you making the most of later life? Ageing is inevitable but the author of a new book argues we have the potential to age better than ever before.

In 'Bolder - Making the Most of Our Longer Lives', Carl Honore quotes research which shows that once we enter our 60s we get a creative refresh. We loosen up again and change attitudes in response to fresh information. Similarly, negative attitudes to ageing causes older people to perform worse in memory, hearing and balance tests and to walk more slowly. Those with a more upbeat image of growing older tend to perform better in memory and motor control tests. They can walk faster and stand a better chance of recovering from disability.

Carl Honor茅 believes that the time has come to cast off prejudices and blur the lines of what is possible at every age. We'll hear from him on the programme today. But we want to hear you experiences. How are you making the most of later life?

Presenter: Winifred Robinson.
