The high-profile Derry republican Tony Taylor is released from prison more than two and a half years after his early-release licence was revoked.

The high-profile Derry republican Tony Taylor has spent his first night at home after being released from prison. He'd spent more than two and a half years in Maghaberry prison after his early-release licence was revoked - without explanation - in March 2016 on the orders of the then Secretary of State Theresa Villiers. The decision to revoke his licence was supported by unionists, but supporters said it amounted to internment without trial. Tony Taylor was originally sentenced to 18 years in prison in 1994 for IRA activity after being injured in a premature explosion, before being released under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. After that, he was caught with a rifle in 2011 and jailed for three years.
