SIF 'significant failings' - Northern Ireland's Auditor General compares the social investment fund to how RHI was run
Social Investment Fund was meant to reduce poverty and unemployment in Northern Ireland.
They said the Nolan show was hyping it. They described opposition parties' questions as negative spin but this morning we find out that Kieran Donnelly, Northern Ireland's auditor general, has compared the social investment fund to how RHI was handled.
In 2016 the Nolan show focused for weeks on the SIF. It was meant to reduce poverty, unemployment and physical deterioration. But in fact in some cases millions of pounds were being given to some groups which were headed up by senior members of the UDA.
We were lambasted for our coverage by both the Dup and Sinn Fein.
Also on the programme, following a damning report by the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Northern Ireland saying prisoners here are being failed by the current system, Catherine talked to Stephen about her son Scott, who is in Maghaberry prison. Just a few weeks ago he tried to take his own life in his cell. Catherine told Stephen how she still feared for her son鈥檚 life.
