Sara Mohr-Pietsch presents choral music for Sunday afternoon, including Faure's nightmarish vision of infernal genies, and boisterous Bohemian celebrations courtesy of Dvorak
Sara Mohr-Pietsch presents her selection of choral favourites and new discoveries for Sunday afternoon
In today’s programme we hear J.S. Bach at his most jubilant in music he wrote to celebrate the spiritual awakening of Christ’s followers, anointed with tongues of holy fire. Gabriel Fauré conjures a nightmarish swarm of vampires, dragons and infernal genies in his choral poem, Les Djinns, and we’re invited to join some boisterous feast day celebrations in rural Bohemia courtesy of AntonÃn Dvořák.
