Plans were ratified by the council earlier this week with a completely redesigned course that will see runners set off from Stormont in east Belfast.
It has been announced that the 2019 Belfast City Marathon will now be held on a Sunday. Plans were ratified by the Council earlier this week with a completely re-designed course that will see runners set off from Stormont in East Belfast. It is expected that the new route will be flatter and faster and the move will see a higher level of spectators and support. Vinny spoke to Belfast City Councillor Jim Rodgers and commentator and runner Brendan Mulgrew.
Also on the programme, are we the dirtiest corner of Europe? Our beaches, our roads, our streets, even our mountains! In the last two years the Department for Environment here has spent over half a million cleaning up fly tipping incidents alone. Are people here just dirty? And should we increase fines for those who think it is OK to dump their rubbish wherever they please? Vinny spoke to Freddie Harris, the Cleaner Neighbourhoods Manager with Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, Martin McMullan of Mourne Mountain Rescue and commentators Fionola Meredith and Dave Atherton.
And, an elderly couple from New Zealand who'd organised a 15-week trip of a lifetime to Northern Ireland have found themselves stranded in Glenarm after finding out they can't drive here! Alison and Terry Kelso - who have been driving for over 60 years in New Zealand arrived here in April hoping to buy a car, insure it and hit the road. However, their dreams of seeing Terry's family homestead in Banbridge and graves in Mullusk have proved nearly impossible as they struggle to get around on public transport. Even though they are 76 and 84 they can't avail of free transport because they don't live here! Our reporter, Nicola Weir, went to meet them.
All that and more on the biggest show in the country.
