Nemone celebrates the Second Summer of Love with Alfredo, Danny Rampling, Nicky Holloway, Nicole Moudaber & author Jane Bussmann
Nemone plays classic tunes and chats to those involved with the Ibiza scene of the 80s, finding out how the sound of the island found its way back to UK clubs and raves.
2018 marks the 30th anniversary of the 'Second Summer of Love' - one of the most extraordinary musical movements the UK has ever experienced. Nemone plays classic tunes, chats to those involved with the Ibiza scene of the 80s, and finds out how the sound of the island found its way back to UK clubs and raves.
The 'Resident DJ' is Nicky Holloway who was one of the four DJs (alongside Danny Rampling, Paul Oakenfold and Johnny Walker) who went on holiday to Ibiza in the Summer of 1987 and experienced "Superclub" Amnesia for the first time. They were introduced to the unique and eclectic style of DJ Alfredo Fiorito's sets which included pop, soul, funk, and jazz, along with emerging house music, then being exported from America. The friends returned home to London and set about recreating their experience and the sounds that Alfredo, the father of the Balearic Beat, had introduced them to. Nicky Holloway shares his favourite 'warm up', 'floor filler' and 'wind down' tracks, that take him back to those early, hedonistic days.
Nemone also chats to Alfredo, at home in Ibiza, and fellow 'White Isle' resident DJ Nicole Moudaber picks the track that sums up Ibiza's legacy for her.
Plus author Jane Bussmann chats about the early days of rave, and how she lived to tell the tale, and Danny Rampling, who set up what is regarded as the UK's first Balearic rave night ‘Shoom’ (which took place in a disused fitness centre in Southwark) provides an exclusive, super-nostalgic Summer of Love classics mix.
So, put on your tie-dye, don a smiley face, and rave into the small hours as Nemone, and friends, take you on a nostalgic trip.
