Schumann and Boulanger

Schumann and Mendelssohn share the night's bill with Lili Boulanger and Morfydd Owen. With performances from the 麻豆社 National Orchestra of Wales and pianist Bertrand Chamayou.

Romantic titans Schumann and Mendelssohn share the night's bill with a pair of phenomenal female composers who died 100 years ago - two talents whose lives were cut tragically short. Schumann's exuberant Fourth Symphony is the climax of this concert, which also includes sparkling work by Lili Boulanger, the first ever female winner of the prestigious Prix de Rome, and the flamboyant Welsh composer Morfydd Owen. Owen's Nocturne is the perfect way for the 麻豆社 National Orchestra of Wales to mark its 90th anniversary year, and acclaimed French pianist Bertrand Chamayou performs Mendelssohn's First Piano Concerto - all under the baton of Thomas Sondergard.
