The new report that says the UK will be hundreds of millions a week worse off after Brexit
Forget that extra money for the health service - the new report that says the UK will be hundreds of millions a week worse off after Brexit.
The government's preferred Brexit deal would leave the UK public finances 拢615m per week worse off than staying in the EU, according to new analysis. A study for the think tank Global Future looked at each of the three scenarios assessed by the government in its own leaked analysis, and you know what folks, none of the scenarios suggest good news. Jonathan Portes, a professor of economics at King's College, London, is the author of the report. Stephen spoke to him this morning and got the views of businessman and commentator Irwin Armstrong.
Also on the programme, you'll remember we were talking yesterday about modern ways of working, zero hours contracts, casual contracts - of course, the 麻豆社 itself not without blame in this regard. Well, we could have filled three programmes with the number of calls we got on the issue. Loads of people wanting to tell their story or that of their adult children's experience in the world of work. Among them the commentator Allison Morris. Stephen spoke to Allison this morning.
Plus, yesterday we had been talking about employment, as new figures suggest that Northern Ireland is at 'effectively at full employment' a level that is close to a record low. But SDLP leader Colum Eastwood disagrees. Stephen spoke to him earlier.
And, Arlene Foster has admitted that when she signed a declaration saying that the RHI scheme represented a good use of taxpayers' money she did not know how much it would cost. However, Mrs Foster denies that represented a "blank cheque" and still insists that she didn't make any mistake at that time. Stephen spoke to Newsletter political editor Sam McBride.
All that and more on the biggest show in the country.
