Cook the Perfect, Sally Challen Appeal, Feminising Philosophy
Claire Thomson explains why a well-stocked larder is key to good home cooking. Plus Clare Mackintosh joins Jenni Murray to discuss her latest novel.
Food writer Claire Thomson views the larder, store cupboard, pantry or shelf as a crucial part of good home cooking. In her new book, 'The Art of the Larder', she encourages stocking ingredients that will help people cook creatively and thriftily. She joins Jenni in the studio to Cook the Perfect...Ligurian Farninata with Red Onion and Black Pepper.
In 2011, Sally Challen was jailed for 22 years for the murder of her husband Richard. Earlier this month she was granted permission to appeal that sentence. Her son, David, joins Jenni to talk about why he has campaigned for this, and her solicitor, Harriet Wistrich, explains what this appeal could mean for Sally and others.
Oxford University is changing the way it teaches philosophy to put a greater emphasis on feminism. More professors in feminist philosophy and more women on reading lists are planned. Why make the change now and is there a need for a different approach in the way philosophy is taught in universities? Alison Hills, Oxford Professor of Philosophy and Katharine Jenkins Assistant Professor and lecturer in feminist philosophy at Nottingham University discuss.
'Let Me Lie' is Clare Mackintosh's third novel. Her first, 'I Let You Go', was the fastest selling title by a new crime writer in 2015. Before becoming a writer, Clare spent twelve years in the police force. She joins Jenni to discuss her latest novel and to compare life as a writer of psychological novels with being a detective.
