Wilson Burgess was born in Aghadowey into a Church of Ireland family, spent much of his youth listening to the men relating their workday experiences of flax and corn and acres to be ploughed, and bottles of stout. He became a poet in Ulster Scots, relating these experiences, publishing his work. He still counts himself as a member of the Church of Ireland. But these days he attends Catholic mass, and believes in the real presence of the eucharist, as Catholics do.

And the Department of Infrastructure says it'll cost 拢9,000 to repair McCallens Bridge in Claudy after it was recently vandalised. The police say they are investigating after damage was caused to the bridge and building equipment was thrown into the river. The other main bridge in Claudy has already been closed for nearly 6 months following last year's floods.
